new and fresh

i love when a client comes in and wants something new and fresh!  even if it isn't totally different, they want something to give their hair that "pop" again!  this week a dear friend came in and thats what i did, i freshened up her color and added some "pop" to it!  before she had a faded, drab color and now she has a bright and vibrant red with black and blonde peek-a-boos to break up the red and add some sassy-ness!  i LOVE how it turned out and she was very pleased with it as well!!  have you been needing a freshin' up on your color?  right now is the perfect time!!

season change

do you ever find it hard to adjust to the seasons changing?  i know that for myself it is sometimes hard to adjust to the weather changing and the days changing.  i have found that i am just miserable when i don't embrace the change, so i will usually change my hair to make it easier to adjust.  i love putting more warm colors into my hair for fall/winter and then brightening it up for spring/summer!  doing a fun change that i can actually see daily changes my whole mindset towards the coming season.  i feel fresh and ready to take on whatever is coming my way.  are you having a hard time adjusting to the changing season?  i encourage you to make a fun change, take your hair warmer for fall and add a fun
copper or plum color!

i heart scarves

i have loved scarves for as long as i can remember.  i love how they can quickly and simply dress up my hair when i am just not feelin it that day.  i wear more scarves than i do headbands for the simple fact that i can adjust the fit of it on my head the way i want to.  i find most of my scarves at thrift stores. they are unique and at a discounted price!  below are my current favorite scarves!  you can see that in each photo my hair is styled differently but the scarf just dresses it up and makes it look a little sweeter.

i actually made this blue scarf from some scrap material i had laying around.  i love this scarf so much.  i love the twist in the front and the material is really soft.  i feel very bohemian when i wear this scarf.

this scarf i got at a local thrift store.  i love it because it is the perfect length, not too long but long enough for me to tie in a knot or in a small bow.  i also love the fact that it is double sided!  it is solid on one side and polka dot on the other!  it is a neutral color so i can wear it with pretty much anything!  in this photo it is tied like a turban which i LOVE!

this is another great scarf that i got at a thrift store.  i love the pattern and the color choices in it!  it is the perfect length just like the previous scarf.

i received this beautiful red scarf for Christmas last year from my lovely sister.  it has adorable birds on it that are green and white.  i've worn it multiple ways in my hair and around my neck.  it is a longer scarf so i don't wear it in my hair as much.  but it is fun to wear as a full wrap around my hair and then tie in a big bow! (i love bows)

my final scarf is one i've had for years.  there is nothing special about it except that i've had it forever and it is my go-to scarf!  anytime i just need a simple something in my hair i grab this one.  i love the length, the material and the stripes.
i am always on the look out for a fun new scarf to add to my collection.  i hope to find one soon!  do you wear any scarves in your hair?  what kinds are your favorite?  if not you should try one to just add something new to your look!  thanks for stopping by!

Ombré

the most popular color style these days is ombre.  it is a term that means to gradually change from one color to another.  i love ombre because you can do soft, natural colors or you can do more bold, bright colors.  wether you have straight or curly hair ombre can work for you!  a lot of people love ombre for the fact that it is less up keep, therefore less money.  you don't have to touch up your roots as frequently if you have your natural color as your root color.  ombre has so many variations that makes it perfect for anyone.  check out the photos below of the different styles and types of ombre you can do.

do you have ombre?  if not have you considered it?  what type would you do, natural or bold?

my recent hair history pt. 2

i'm back for pt. 2 of my recent hair history!  if you didn't read pt. 1 scroll down and get caught up.  so after my year of crazy hair colors i decided to stick with a solid color.  i chose a dark brown color, which is a couple shades darker than my natural color.  i love having a dark, rich solid color!  i am fair skinned, for a mexican, and i have green eyes so the darker my hair is the more my eyes pop!!  so while my coworker was coloring my hair i decided to try something a little crazy!  i have been growing my hair out for over a year and was not about to cut it short but i had been contemplating something drastic... bangs/fringe.  i haven't had bangs since i was probably 13 and i looked ridiculous!  they had been cut too short so i had to pin them back a lot.  and once they grew out i didn't know how to style them and paired with my very curly hair at the time it didn't look good.  so the thought of cutting bangs again made me nervous, but i had seen so many cute hairstyles with bangs that i had been obsessed with them for about a year!  so while my color was processing i mulled over the idea of having bangs.  would i be ok with having to style them everyday? what if i hated them?  what if i loved them?  what if they look weird with your curly hair?  i had so many questions going through my head that i finally thought, "i won't know till i try it!!".  so i decided!  i was going to commit to them, whether i hated them or loved them i was going to do it!  so as she cut my bangs and i saw the long hair drop to the floor i thought, "there is no going back now!"
so as i styled them the way i wanted i realized, i LOVED them and can't believe i didn't do it earlier!! they make my eyes pop even more!

i love how when i wear a big top bun i still have hair framing my face!

i am so happy i finally took the plunge and just did it!

is there anything you have been wanting to do to your hair but have been too afraid?  if you are still thinking about doing it after a few months you should do it!  take the plunge!  you won't know till you try and maybe you'll LOVE it!!!!
