getting bored with your hair is the nature of the beast when you are a hair stylist. if your clients aren't trying new things, YOU are trying new things! i am a naturally creative person so i like to do lots of different things and i like lots of different colors. when i get bored i like to change up my hair, so i thought it would be fun to share with you my recent hair history and then share with you my current hair style. i am going to split it into 2 posts cause, i'll just be honest, i have done a lot to my hair in just the past 9 months and it would be a really long post! so lets begin with pt. 1 at the beginning of this year...
i had an ombre color, which means that my hair gradually faded from one color to another. my hair was close to my natural hair color, a medium brown on my roots to about half way down my hair length and then it faded into a medium copper/brown. i loved it! it was subtle and natural looking and i loved the copper color of my ends! i still miss my copper ends and can't wait to once again have my hair a pretty copper ombre. well this leads me to my next hair color...
after about 7 months of having a natural brown and copper ombre i started to get restless for a change. i said goodbye to my copper and said hello to...
TURQUOISE!!!
i lightened my ends again to get rid of the copper and then i put a turquoise on my ends so my hair went from my natural medium brown into a pretty turquoise! i loved it! it was so fun to have a bright color in my hair for summer! it had been years since i had done a crazy color and i loved it! it of course faded fairly quickly like most bright colors but i didn't mind! when it faded i redid the turquoise and then when it faded a second time leaving my ends a nasty bluish green i put a hot pink over the ends! so now my ends were purple! purple is my favorite color and i have had purple in my hair before so it was fun having it purple again!
i then got tired of the upkeep that comes along with bright colors. as a hair stylist i like to do crazy and creative things with my hair but i also like for my hair to be low maintenance. so i (and my coworker who was doing my hair) began the process of trying to strip my ends of all the bright color i had built up over the past 3 months. let me just say, i knew my hair was going to be damaged and dry after this process but i just wanted my hair to be simple again.
so i tried a few different colors to get me back to a natural color and i eventually just decided to do a solid all over color. no more ombre, no more fun colors, just one simple color. i told myself that i had to keep it for a year. a year?!?! yes a year. i needed my hair to have an even color that would keep my hair looking healthy and beautiful. i'll be back later this week to post my new hair and how i kept it really simple but added something new to my style that will keep me feeling fun for the year of solid color! thanks for stopping by!!
